THE UNDERGROUND SPEAKEASY AT THE MOB MUSEUM FEATURES LIVE MUSIC, LIMITED-EDITION COCKTAILS AND MORE IN MAY

LAS VEGAS (April 2022) – In May, The Underground speakeasy and distillery inside The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, will offer a variety of cocktail specials and weekly live music. The full roster of May programs in The Underground follows.

Description: Revel in the sounds of the Jazz Age once more with music in The Underground speakeasy. Featuring a rotating roster of talented performing artists presented in an atmosphere surrounded by Prohibition-era artifacts, The Underground offers an immersive 1920s-inspired experience like none other.

Cinco de Mayo
Date: Tasting flight is available all month and the margarita is available from May 1 to 7
Time: Available Monday through Wednesday from noon to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from noon to midnight.
Cost: $35 for Tequila and Mezcal Tasting Flight; $12 for Spicy Mango Margarita.

Description: In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, guests can enjoy distinctive beverage offerings in The Underground.

The Tequila and Mezcal Tasting Flight features Mexico’s national spirits. Distilled from the agave plant, tequila and mezcal undergo differing production methods and regional variations, leading to vastly different flavor profiles. From smooth to smoky and earthy to oaky, experience the complexity with this flight of four spirits.

The Spicy Mango Margarita is prepared with the choice of Dos Hombres Mezcal or Reposado tequila as well as Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur, habanero agave nectar, Firewater bitters, mango puree and a Tajin rim.

National Mimosa Day
Date: May 16 to 22
Time: Available Monday through Wednesday from noon to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from noon to midnight.
Location: The Underground speakeasy and distillery
Cost: $12
Description: The Buck’s Fizz cocktail, served in Buck’s Club in London in 1921, became the inspiration for the mimosa. The Underground invites visitors to celebrate National Mimosa Day from May 16 to 22 with their own version of this classic cocktail in three different flavors: pomegranate, blood orange and guava.

World Whiskey Day
Date: May 21
Time: Noon to midnight
Location: The Underground speakeasy and distillery
Cost: $12 each
Description: Whiskey made it through the American Prohibition thanks to a loophole allowing it to be utilized as a medicinal product. Today, it is a historic and well-loved spirit around the world. Guests are invited to celebrate World Whiskey Day in The Underground with top-shelf whiskey cocktails such as The Underground Old Fashioned, made with bourbon, vanilla bean, brown sugar, and bitters cleverly served inside of a book, as well as The Marlow, crafted with bourbon, sherry, blackberry, lemon, and rosemary.

National Mint Julep Day
Date: May 27 to 30
Time: Available Friday through Sunday from noon to midnight and Monday from noon to 10 p.m.
Location: The Underground speakeasy and distillery
Cost: $12
Description: Mint juleps have been associated with the Kentucky Derby and the month of May since 1938. In honor of National Mint Julep Day, guests are invited to visit The Underground and select their own Mint Julep flavor, including peach, strawberry, and mint chocolate.

New Passionfruit Hibiscus Giggle Water
Date: Available now
Time: Available Monday through Wednesday from noon to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from noon to midnight.
Cost: $14
Location: The Underground speakeasy and distillery
Description: Giggle Water was one nickname for illegal alcohol. The speakeasy is now offering a brand-new Passionfruit Hibiscus Giggle Water crafted with hibiscus-infused vodka, passion fruit puree, Lillet Blanc, lemon juice and simple syrup.

 

Happy Hour in The Underground
Date: Sunday through Thursday
Time: 5 to 7 p.m.
Location: The Underground speakeasy and distillery
Description: During happy hour, The Underground offers a $2 discount on all craft cocktails, draft beer and wine.

ABOUT THE UNDERGROUND
The Underground is an immersive Prohibition history experiential exhibition, featuring a distillery, speakeasy and private VIP room located in the basement of The Mob Museum. Its custom-made, copper-pot still, dubbed “Virginia Still” after mobster Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel’s notorious girlfriend Virginia Hill, has a capacity of 60 gallons and can serve up to 250 750-mL jars of moonshine per week. The Underground also brews and serves craft beer onsite. Artifacts from the 1920s and 1930s on display tell the intriguing story of the Prohibition era, which not only saw a proliferation of bootlegged booze and the meteoric growth of organized crime outfits, but also had a profound, lasting impact on society and culture.
