LAS VEGAS (November 2023) – The Underground Speakeasy and Distillery at The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, invites guests to its Repeal Day celebration commemorating the momentous 90^th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition in 1933. In addition, guests are invited to enjoy weekly live music, a brand-new moonshine flavor and other distinctive offers in December. The full list of happenings follows.

Repeal Day at The Underground
Date: Saturday, Dec. 2
Time: 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Location: The Underground speakeasy
Cost: Free entry with secret password “DRY NO MORE.” Specialty Repeal Day cocktails are available for $15 each.
Description: The Underground will celebrate the 90^th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition on Saturday, Dec. 2. The annual Repeal Day soirée will include specialty cocktails, house-made bites and the launch of a new moonshine produced in the Museum’s distillery. Revelers are encouraged to dress in their best Prohibition-era attire, party like it’s 1933 and raise a glass to the repeal of Prohibition. New Orleans-style jazz band Flamingo will also ignite the evening with a noteworthy live performance.

Limited-Time Repeal Day-Inspired Cocktails
Dates: Friday, Dec. 1 through Tuesday, Dec. 5
Time: Available Friday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Saturday and Sunday from noon to midnight and Monday through Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Location: The Underground speakeasy and distillery

Description: To celebrate the 90^th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition in December, The Underground invites guests to savor four limited-time cocktails.

• Doctor’s Orders – A loophole in the Volstead Act was a doctor’s ability to prescribe medicinal alcohol. This prevented alcohol from disappearing from American life as bourbon was one of those medicinal spirits that could be found on a pharmacy’s shelf during the 1920s. Celebrating its everlasting home in American culture, the Doctor’s Orders combines Knob Creek Bourbon, dry curaçao, amaretto, blackberry and lime juice.
• Strawberry Collins – A true cocktail classic, the Tom Collins preceded Prohibition by decades. The ever-popular cocktail was first featured in Jerry Thomas’ 1876 rendition of “The Bartender’s Guide.” Further withstanding the test of time 90 years after Prohibition’s repeal, The Underground incorporates strawberry-infused gin for a contemporary take to celebrate the historic anniversary.
• The Man in the Green Hat – Prohibition was so disliked by most Americans that even congress had its own bootlegger – the Man in the Green Hat. This man, known for his emerald-colored hat, was eventually identified as George Cassidy when he was busted by a capitol police officer for delivering six quarts of whiskey to a U.S. house member in February of 1930. Combining two whiskies, this cocktail features Suntory Whisky Toki, Maker’s Mark 46, orgeat and bitters.
• The 3 Dons – The importation of coffee more than tripled in the 1920s, cementing its popularity in America. A riff on an espresso martini, The 3 Dons combines Tres Generaciones Añejo Tequila, espresso, walnut bitters and bar sugar for a tequila-based take on the ever-popular espresso martini.

Description: The Underground invites guests to imbibe with brand-new seasonal cocktails available throughout December.

• Ain’t You a Peach, $14 – A new flavor of moonshine from The Underground distillery has arrived, and with it comes a new craft cocktail from the award-winning speakeasy. Showcasing The Fuzz Moonshine, this peachy sip also combines amaro, vermouth and lemon juice, topped with a cherry and a peach gummy ring.
• Peppermint Moonshine Hot Chocolate, $13 – Though hot chocolate dates back to the Aztec Empire, spiked versions gained popularity in the 20th century. This holiday cocktail is reminiscent of candy canes dipped in America’s favorite holiday beverage and is crafted with hot chocolate and The Mob Museum’s house-distilled Peppermint Moonshine.

Description: Prohibition might have forced bartender Harry Craddock back to London in the 1920s, but it surely didn’t stop him from creating cocktail recipes. A recipe of his own, likely inspired by the Greek mythological figure, the Tantalus cocktail appeared in his 1930 “Savoy Cocktail Book.” The Underground’s version features apple brandy, Pamplemousse liqueur, honey and allspice for seasonal warmth.
