THE MOB MUSEUM, NATIONAL ATOMIC TESTING MUSEUM PARTNER WITH UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA, LAS VEGAS’ COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS FOR “WITNESSING HISTORY” SUMMER CAMP
Five-Day Program Offers High School Students Hands-On Learning Experience Exploring Role of Museums in Shaping Public Memory
LAS VEGAS (May 2026) – The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, and the National Atomic Testing Museum announce their partnership with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ College of Liberal Arts to present the “Witnessing History” summer camp. Taking place Monday, June 8, through Friday, June 12, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the UNLV summer program invites students to step into the past and explore the vital role museums play in preserving and interpreting history.
Open to Las Vegas high school students and 2026 graduates, the camp offers a dynamic blend of academic instruction, hands-on learning and real-world engagement. Led by UNLV faculty and staff alongside museum educators, participating teens will engage in activities, interactive sessions and guided explorations designed to develop their critical thinking skills while deepening their understanding of how public memory is created and shared. Through this history program for teens, students will gain exclusive access to artifacts and exhibits, offering a behind-the-scenes perspective on how museums curate and present historical narratives.
One of the best things to do for teens this summer, programming will take place at UNLV’s campus as well as on-site at both participating museums, with sessions hosted at The Mob Museum, recognized for its award-winning educational outreach program, and the National Atomic Testing Museum on Tuesday and Thursday.
Lunch is included in the cost of the camp and will be served at the UNLV Dining Commons on Monday, June 8; Wednesday, June 10; and Friday, June 12. Transportation to off-campus locations will not be provided. The registration fee for the “Witnessing History” summer camp is $250 per student. For more information or to register, click here.
