National Atomic Testing Museum to Host “Atomic Stories” Event Examining Cuban Missile Crisis, Saturday, June 13

LAS VEGAS (June 2026) – The National Atomic Testing Museum invites the public to its next “Atomic Stories” event exploring the historical impact of the Cuban Missile Crisis on Saturday, June 13 at 12 p.m. The “Atomic Stories” series is designed to bring history to life through expert perspectives, archival materials and engaging discussions connecting past events to present-day conversations.
The event will include the showing of “One Week in October,” a black and white documentary created by the U.S. Department of Defense that was released in July 1964. The film recounts the Cuban Missile Crisis of October 1962.
Following the screening, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a discussion with Martha DeMarre, founder of the National Atomic Testing Museum and archivist for the Nevada National Security Sites. DeMarre will provide expert commentary on the film’s historical significance and its lasting impact on generations of Americans.
