College Seniors, Graduate Students Invited to Launch Education Careers, Build Leadership Skills With Lasting Impact

LAS VEGAS (September 2026) – Teach For America Nevada announces it has opened applications for its 2027 corps, inviting college seniors and graduate students to begin their careers making an immediate impact in classrooms and communities across the state. Seniors who will earn a bachelor’s degree by June 2027, as well as graduate students who already hold a bachelor’s degree, are encouraged to apply by March 8, 2027.
Teach For America Nevada’s corps is a paid, two-year, full-time opportunity to teach in an under-resourced K-12 school while developing leadership skills that can translate to careers in education, public service, policy, business and other fields. Applicants from all majors and academic backgrounds are welcome, and candidates must have a minimum 2.5 GPA to apply.
Teach For America Nevada recruits, develops and supports leaders who are committed to expanding educational opportunity, beginning with teaching in communities where educators are needed. The organization prepares corps members through national summer training, regional onboarding and ongoing coaching, peer support and mentorship throughout their service.
In Nevada, the organization works closely with the Clark County School District to prepare and place teachers based on local workforce needs. Teach For America Nevada partners with CCSD to help fill existing teacher vacancies in areas where students need educators most. This year, many Nevada corps members pursued elementary and early childhood certification in response to identified district staffing needs.
Corps members are hired directly by the local schools where they teach and receive the same salary, vacation and benefits as other first-year teachers. Starting salaries are currently approximately $57,471, with benefits including health insurance and retirement. Teach For America Nevada also provides a $4,000 financial support stipend, access to graduate school scholarships and potential additional funding for eligible individuals, including Pell Grant recipients and others with high financial need. Eligible corps members may also receive AmeriCorps benefits, including federal student loan forbearance, interest accrual payments and education awards.
While applicants attending Nevada colleges and universities can pursue placement in Nevada, Teach For America is a national organization, and corps members may also have opportunities to teach in communities across the country. Beyond the two-year corps commitment, participants become part of Teach For America’s national network of more than 70,000 alumni. Teach For America’s approach is designed to give emerging leaders real-world experience, transferable skills, professional networks and a foundation they can carry into their next career step.
