LAS VEGAS (October 2023) – Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club, Las Vegas’ ultimate destination for late-night shows, surprise comedians, high-end casual cuisine, and memorabilia in the heart of The LINQ Promenade, has deployed state-of-the-art technology to incorporate life-size, 4K hologram appearances by celebrities into the club environment.

The system, from Los Angeles-based Proto, represents the world’s first holographic communications platform and patented hologram machine that makes “holoportation” a reality.

Proto won four Innovation awards at the 2023 CES show here in Las Vegas, and subsequently has been hailed as the creator of a new form of communication by The New York Times, BBC and more. 

Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club represents the first permanent installation of a Proto unit in Las Vegas. The technology debuted recently at the club.

 With the help of Proto, comedy fans can spend quality time with Kimmel and Guillermo Rodriguez, Kimmel’s former security guard who became a celebrity of his own through Kimmel’s late-night talk show. The duo will appear in recorded hologram form to greet guests and riff on Las Vegas as patrons arrive at the club.

In addition, Kimmel and other celebrities can beam in live from Los Angeles to surprise fans, interacting with them in real time.

Guests who appear via hologram appear in a white box that looks like a cross between a futuristic telephone booth and a teleporter from Star Trek’s U.S.S. Enterprise.
