WHAT
Girls on the Run Las Vegas (GOTR) invites the Las Vegas community to celebrate the holiday season by participating in the Gingerbread (Wo)man Dash—its seasonal Fall 5K. The race will be led by FOX5 Las Vegas News Anchor Alyssa Deitsch, who will be dressed in a life-sized gingerbread woman costume. She will lead more than 275 girls and community runners – their largest fall season yet. 

Each year, Girls on the Run hosts two 5K events, gathering hundreds of young girls from more than 50 elementary schools in Clark County to accomplish one common goal—to be healthy, confident and joyful. Each girl is paired with an adult Running Buddy who runs alongside them during the 5K. This celebratory, non-competitive event marks the conclusion of a season-long, experienced-based curriculum designed to develop confidence, friendship, strength and emotional and spiritual health in young girls—all while integrating running. The program provides participants with a sense of accomplishment and instills the value of goal-setting at a young age.

Girls currently participating in Fall Season 2019 Girls on the Run program are already registered to run the 5K. Community runners need not be a Running Buddy in order to participate in the 5K; the event is open to the public and anyone can register to run.
