LAS VEGAS (May 12, 2020) – In keeping with its “Curaleaf Cares” community philanthropic initiative, Curaleaf Nevada celebrated the reopening of its retail dispensaries by partnering with Las Vegas restaurant 7th & Carson Downtown Kitchen and Bar to provide fresh meals and supply kits to the area’s homeless population. The company’s Acres and Curaleaf Boulevard dispensaries collected money over the last five weeks via its “rounding-up” exact change payment policy for cannabis delivery service. The funds raised were used to purchase 106 fresh meals from 7th & Carson and 85 supplies care kits for needy individuals, in collaboration with local charities Food Not Bombs and Caridad.

“7th & Carson is grateful to the team at Curaleaf Nevada for what is, as of today, our largest single donation of meals and supplies care kits yet,” said Jenn Tramaglino, marketing partner, 7th & Carson. “With the support of our organization partners and our local Las Vegas community, we have been able to feed a lot of our neighbors and we look forward to feeding a lot more. Thank YOU, Curaleaf Cares!”

Added Nicole Silverman, director of marketing, Curaleaf Nevada: “We wanted to help our community during these challenging times and were gratified to see our downtown neighbor, 7th & Carson, was already reaching disadvantaged individuals. Collaborating with our good friends in the food and beverage industry, as well as local charities, enables us to increase our impact, helping more people more efficiently than any of us could do alone.”

For its fresh meals, 7th & Carson prepares entrees and salads for distribution along with bottled water by Food Not Bombs, which provides meals directly to the homeless throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Food Not Bombs specifically provides vegan and vegetarian meals; their partner organization, Water & Solidarity, distributes meals containing meat.

Money collected by Curaleaf and designated for supplies care kits will be given directly to Caridad, which assembles them. They include socks, first aid supplies, sunblock and other essentials needed by individuals living on the streets. Supply kits for the homeless represent one of Caridad’s projects; the organization also operates Caridad Gardens, which uses urban agriculture to provide food and employment for formerly homeless clients from US Vets.

When it closed its dining room due to COVID-19, 7th & Carson continued to offer takeout and delivery and debuted the Downtown Corner Market, which sells pantry essentials as well as grocery items, packaged liquor, bottles of wine and beer. Its menu also includes the option for customers to donate money toward fresh meals and Caridad’s supply kits for the homeless.

“We still offer curbside pickup and delivery, too, which enables us to serve more patients and customers as well as creates more opportunities for us to give back to the community. Our outreach efforts to our most vulnerable neighbors will continue,” concluded Silverman.
