THRIVE CANNABIS MARKETPLACE, ARTISANS ON FIRE RECEIVES FIVE CLIO CANNABIS AWARDS

LAS VEGAS (December 2020) – THRIVE Cannabis Marketplace, Nevada’s largest cannabis retailer, in partnership with its marketing agency Artisans On Fire, won five 2020 Clio Cannabis Awards, including one silver, two bronze and two shortlist wins. The winners of the 2020 Clio Cannabis Awards were unveiled on Dec. 17 at a virtual ceremony as part of the Emerge Virtual Cannabis Conference.

When COVID-19 hit, cannabis retail dispensaries were forced to shut down before they were declared essential businesses and allowed to offer delivery service. Within less than one week THRIVE, along with the entire industry, had to adapt to becoming a delivery-only service. With the support of creative agency Artisans on Fire, the company responded by creating a campaign to amplify the raw and real emotions associated with the challenges of pandemic-induced social isolation and stress, while demonstrating consumers could still have safe and affordable access to cannabis.

The awards were based on two marketing campaign videos designed, produced and filmed by Artisans on Fire at the height of the pandemic. Each video was created while social distancing and recording audio remotely. The first video, titled “Stay Apart. Thrive Together,” concentrated on depicting the relatable emotions and concerns by cannabis consumers during the pandemic. The second video promotes THRIVE’s “For $20” value menu, which features cannabis favorites at wallet-friendly prices, drawing inspiration from the easily identified, fast food restaurant mix-and-match style menu.

Last year, Clio Awards introduced Clio Cannabis, its newest best-in-class program to honor creative ideas in a variety of specialized verticals.  Clio Cannabis celebrates the creators at the forefront of cannabis marketing and communications.

“The COVID-19 crisis hit our tourism and hospitality-driven community especially hard in terms of economic impact,” said Mitch Britten, founder and chief executive officer, THRIVE. “We created this campaign to acknowledge the reality we all share right now, while letting our customers and patients know THRIVE is still there for them. What an honor it is to have been identified by Clio Cannabis for the passion everyone put into these videos.”

ABOUT ARTISANS ON FIRE
Artisans On Fire focuses primarily on “gray-market” businesses not yet legal worldwide, including cannabis, sportsbooks, casinos, online gaming and daily fantasy sports. As a result of the impact of COVID-19 on his clients and income, agency co-founders John Erminio and Dustin Iannotti have laid off 40 percent of their team.

“We’re incredibly proud of these award-winning ads, because they demonstrate the passion and dedication of a small agency for its client during a time of crisis,” said Iannotti. “They incorporate employees we were forced to lay off, but who volunteered to participate because they believe in the message. We’re all in this together.”
