LAS VEGAS (June 2025) – On May 21 and May 22, 2025, deserving 5th grade students from Robert E. Lake Elementary School received the third-annual SAHARA Cares Award. Created by the school to recognize one outstanding student per 5th grade class in honor of SAHARA Las Vegas’ community partnership, the SAHARA Cares Award was presented to individuals embodying the characteristics of the acronym ROAR: respectful, on task, accountable and responsible.
Each recipient was awarded a laptop to celebrate their commendable achievements and behavior. Additionally, SAHARA Las Vegas provided caps and gowns for all graduating 5th grade students, ensuring each child felt celebrated on their special day.
SAHARA Las Vegas Team Members invited to attend the award ceremony included Chief Vision and Purpose Officer Alexis Meruelo, Vice President of Human Resources Stacy King, Human Resources Director Erika Hernandez, Security Director Stan Williams, Vice President of Food and Beverage Derek Morishita, Vice President of Marketing Mike Tozzi, Senior Vice President and General Manager Paul Hobson and Social Media Manager Ben Brouillette.
“The SAHARA Cares Award has become a meaningful tradition at our school, reminding students that their hard work, character and dedication do not go unnoticed,” said Paola Zepher, principal of Robert E. Lake Elementary School. “We’re incredibly thankful for SAHARA Las Vegas and their Team Members for recognizing our students in such a thoughtful way.”
