LAS VEGAS (May 2, 2025) — With federal cuts seriously impacting Nevada’s higher education institutions, the passage of Senate Bill 220 – The Nevada Film Infrastructure, Workforce Development, Education and Economic Diversification Act in the current legislative session could not be more crucial. In addition to bringing the Nevada Studios 34-acre film production campus to the UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park, SB 220 will generate $1 billion from the private sector for education, research, and vocational training at Nevada Studios’ 50,000-square-foot Nevada Media and Technology Lab and the UNLV Research Foundation.

Furthermore, SB 220 spurs diversification of Nevada’s economy through its Creative Technology Initiative (CTI) in collaboration with UNLV, CSN, NSU and other participating NSHE programs.

Through CTI, SB 220 expands jobs and opportunities in not only film production but also in the aerospace and defense, healthcare technology and video game publishing industries.

Notably, SB 220 is a revenue neutral bill; for every film tax credit dollar, $1.02 will be returned to Nevada’s tax revenue stream.

Nevada Studios’ operator and manager is The MBS Group, the world’s largest studio and production manager, which works with every major global film production company.

Nevada Studios will be developed by Birtcher Nevada Development in partnership with the UNLV Research Foundation via a 100-year ground lease.
