AREA15 ANNOUNCES
THEIR FIRST FOOD AND BEVERAGE EXPERIENCE, ODDWOOD,
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LAS VEGAS ENTREPRENEUR RYAN DOHERTY

LAS VEGAS (August 2019) – With a tall, twinkling LED weeping Japanese maple tree as its centerpiece and a bar bustling with approachable cocktails, coffee and more – AREA15announces Oddwood, its first of many food and beverage experiences.

Opening in 2020, AREA15 promises to be a portal to the extraordinary, the world’s first purpose-built experiential retail and entertainment complex designed to bring the best-in-class of immersive experiences together under one roof.

Las Vegas entrepreneur Ryan Doherty of Corner Bar Management Group led the design and creation of Oddwood in partnership with AREA15’s creative team. Oddwood will be produced from the creator of Las Vegas’ most popular downtown hangouts including Commonwealth, The Laundry Room and Park on Fremont.

Giving inspiration to its name, at the heart of Oddwood will be the ever-changing, nearly 23-foot-high Japanese maple tree built by Symmetry Labs. A dramatic 28-feet-long by 17-feet-wide canopy with more than 5,000 twinkling LED lights will create the romantic, enchanting vibe in the space. Representing a “lost forest where only odd, digital seeds remain,” Oddwood’s tree was designed to fit in with the daring and dynamic feel of AREA15’s SPINE, a vibrant and ever-changing public corridor running through the center of the complex and the first area the public sees upon arrival.

“AREA15 is an ambitious and unique project that will be a game changer in Las Vegas, so I was immediately drawn to be a part of it,” says Doherty. “Working with the creative and design team at AREA15 was a true collaborative effort. As a result, Oddwood is one of the most incredible projects I’ve ever been a part of. No one has done anything like this before and it’s going to benefit the City of Las Vegas tremendously.”

Oddwood will serve a wide variety of premium beers and cocktails along with a full coffee bar provided by Las Vegas-based Vesta Coffee Roasters. Oddwood will follow sustainable practices, including abstaining from using straws and napkins.

Additional distinctive décor elements will include drink tables and mini-lanterns by HYBYCOZO, whose laser-cut designs will cast unusual geometric shadows throughout the space; a community table seating 10 and a large center bar framing the digital tree and featuring various grains of wood selected to contrast with one another.

“We wanted to find the most transformative night-culture visionary in Las Vegas to develop an experience that’s not just about drinking a cocktail, but also about the emotional, creative and inspirational environment that defines that experience. Of course, it had to be a concept no one had previously imagined—so we immediately knew partnering with Doherty and his team would be the best move. Wait until you see this design come to life when it opens next year,” concludes Winston Fisher, chief executive officer, AREA15.

AREA15 will announce additional food and beverage experiences this fall.
